Bupa’s new food waste solution boosts recycling by 50%

Veolia has provided waste services to the private medical care company since 2016.

But we had not collected food waste before, limiting Bupa’s recycling performance. So, in 2020, we developed a food waste solution for its 130 care homes. Now, it is saving £41,000 a year on waste costs and increased its recycling rate by 50% in the year, to 39%.

35,000 tonnes of food waste was recycled in just ten months – a 218% increase.

Bupa is also saving up to 31,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent every month.
