As we have highlighted throughout this report, we are on track to meet many of the goals and ambitions we set ourselves – from improving our safety at work record and boosting diversity to reducing our emissions and protecting the environment.
But we know we still have work to do as we strive to achieve ecological transformation. Below you can see at a glance our 2021 performance across a range of sustainability challenges, and our goals for the year ahead.
In 2021 Veolia UK and Ireland was useful. This report is the tangible proof of that usefulness to our employees, to the customers we serve, to the communities we work in, to our shareholders who invest in us and to the planet we all share. In 2022 we will continue to underline the legitimacy of our business by continuing to be useful to our stakeholders and by striving to achieve ecological transformation.
The employees of Veolia UK alongside colleagues from Ireland and Northern Europe have the skills, knowledge and expertise to provide our stakeholders with a virtuous ecological transformation: one that delivers further economic growth, but does not harm the environment. This transformation must address issues such as resource scarcity, the increasing complexity of pollution and the challenges posed by new ways of living in our cities. Local and national governments have the ability and the duty to assist in the real-life deployment of such solutions by setting clear rules and targets.
Alongside my colleagues in Veolia I am proud of the impact we have and commit to doing more and achieving our targets in 2022.
Senior Executive Vice-President,
